Community Guidelines

Standards for participating in the Hitbook professional community. These guidelines help keep our community safe, respectful, and valuable for all creative professionals.

Our Community

Hitbook's community feed is a professional space where creative professionals share knowledge, discuss ideas, showcase work, and connect with peers. These guidelines exist to maintain a community that is safe, respectful, and genuinely useful for everyone.

These Community Guidelines supplement our Terms of Service and apply to all user-generated content across the platform, including posts, replies, comments, reactions, photos, videos, albums, embedded content, profiles, and any other content you share.

What We Expect

Be Professional & Respectful

  • Treat other community members with respect, even when you disagree
  • Engage in constructive discussions that contribute to the professional community
  • Share genuine knowledge, experiences, and insights that help other creatives
  • Give credit when sharing or referencing others' work or ideas

Be Honest & Authentic

  • Represent yourself and your business accurately
  • Do not make false or misleading claims about your credentials, experience, or services
  • Share your genuine opinions and experiences
  • Disclose any commercial relationships or sponsorships when relevant

Respect Rights & Privacy

  • Only share content you own or have permission to share
  • Respect intellectual property, including copyrights, trademarks, and creative works
  • Do not share personal information, private communications, or confidential data about others without their consent
  • If sharing photos or videos featuring identifiable individuals, ensure you have their permission

What Is Not Allowed

The following types of content and behavior are prohibited in the Hitbook community. Violations may result in content removal, account restrictions, or account termination.

Harmful & Abusive Content

  • Harassment & Bullying: Content that targets, intimidates, threatens, or degrades another person, including persistent unwanted contact, doxxing, or coordinated harassment campaigns
  • Hate Speech: Content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
  • Threats & Violence: Content that threatens, promotes, or glorifies violence, terrorism, or self-harm
  • Sexual Content: Sexually explicit, obscene, or exploitative content. Any content depicting or promoting the exploitation of minors is strictly prohibited and will be reported to relevant authorities

Dishonest & Deceptive Content

  • Fraud & Scams: Content that promotes fraudulent schemes, phishing attempts, deceptive solicitations, or financial scams
  • False Professional Claims: Misleading or unsubstantiated claims about your credentials, certifications, experience, endorsements, or business capabilities
  • Impersonation: Pretending to be another person, business, or Hitbook representative
  • Misleading Information: Deliberately false, misleading, or deceptive content intended to deceive, manipulate, or harm other users

Intellectual Property & Privacy Violations

  • Copyright Infringement: Sharing copyrighted photos, videos, music, text, or other creative works without authorization from the rights holder
  • Trademark Misuse: Unauthorized use of trademarks, logos, or brand identities in a manner likely to cause confusion
  • Privacy Violations: Publishing personal data, private communications, confidential business information, or identifying information about another person without their explicit consent
  • Unauthorized Content: Sharing photos or videos of people who have not consented to being filmed, photographed, or having their likeness published

Spam & Platform Manipulation

  • Spam: Repetitive, unsolicited, or mass-posted content, including promotional posts that add no genuine value to the community
  • Coordinated Inauthentic Activity: Using multiple accounts, bots, or coordinated groups to artificially inflate engagement, manipulate discussions, or create a false impression of consensus
  • Malicious Links: Sharing links to malware, phishing sites, or other harmful destinations
  • Scraping & Harvesting: Using automated tools to extract data, user information, or content from the community

Unlawful Content

  • Content that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • Content that promotes, facilitates, or instructs illegal activity
  • Content related to regulated goods or services that violates applicable laws

Embedded & Third-Party Content

The community feed allows you to embed content from platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Vimeo. When embedding third-party content:

  • You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to embed and share that content
  • Embedded content remains subject to the originating platform's terms and policies
  • Hitbook may remove embedded content at its discretion, including in response to third-party requests or legal notices

Reporting Content

If you encounter content that violates these guidelines, you can report it directly through the platform using the report button on any post or comment. Reports are confidential and are reviewed by our team.

Report Categories

  • Copyright violation
  • Harassment or bullying
  • Hate speech
  • Nudity or sexual content
  • Violence or dangerous content
  • Scam or fraud
  • Spam or misleading content
  • Fake identity / impersonation
  • Privacy violation

Takedown Requests & Complaints

If you believe content on the platform violates your rights or applicable law, you may submit a complaint:

How to Submit a Complaint

  • Copyright/IP Complaints: Send a notice to legal@hitbook.io including details of the copyrighted work, the allegedly infringing content, and your contact information. We process copyright notices in accordance with the DMCA and other applicable laws.
  • Privacy Complaints: If content includes your personal data, private information, or likeness without your consent, contact privacy@hitbook.io.
  • Content Reports: Use the in-app report button on any post or comment, or email support@hitbook.io.

Enforcement

We enforce these guidelines through a combination of user reports, automated detection, and manual review. Actions we may take include:

  • Content Removal: Removing, hiding, or restricting access to violating content
  • Content De-Ranking: Reducing the visibility of content that may be borderline or low-quality
  • Account Restrictions: Temporarily restricting your ability to post, comment, or interact with the community
  • Account Suspension: Temporarily suspending your account for repeated or serious violations
  • Account Termination: Permanently terminating your account for severe or repeated violations
  • Legal Reporting: Reporting content that may constitute a crime to relevant law enforcement authorities

Automated Content Protection

Posts that receive multiple reports from different users may be automatically hidden from the community feed pending review. This system is designed to quickly protect the community from potentially harmful content.

Important Notices

  • We reserve the right to take any enforcement action at our sole discretion, without prior notice
  • We are under no obligation to prescreen, monitor, or review all user content
  • Our decision not to remove content does not constitute endorsement or approval
  • We do not guarantee specific response times for reports
  • Enforcement decisions are final and are made at our sole discretion

Your Responsibility

By participating in the Hitbook community, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for all content you post, share, upload, embed, or make available
  • Hitbook does not endorse, verify, or assume responsibility for any user-generated content
  • Views and opinions expressed by community members are their own and do not represent Hitbook
  • You should independently verify any advice, recommendations, or claims made by other users before relying on them
  • You indemnify HITBOOK INC against claims arising from your community content

Changes to Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the platform or by updating this page. Continued use of the community features after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
